About Me !

Hi Everyone, (not sure if anyone will read this) A very quick pen picture of my cycling exploits,

I am Dave Lee, I was born in Liverpool 1962,  I’ve just completed 30yrs Police servive Lancashire 1982-1991 West Mercia 1991-2011. I had a fantastic career, remaining on the ”front-line” all my service.

I originally took up cycling with some school mates between 1976 until lifes distractions of work, alcohol and the opposite sex saw me hang up my wheels in 1982. During those few years, I raced, with no major success’s, 3rd in a Road Race and 1st junior in the 3 Peaks Cyclo-Cross are the only two that stick in my mind. More importantly I made some great friends and enjoyed riding in some beautiful countryside.

I dabbled with some MTBing when my son enjoyed several years of successful  racing on the MTB scene. At the end of 2007 in a desperate attempt to stem the waistband spread I bought a 2nd hand road bike off ebay. It was the start of a beautiful re-ignition of my love of cycling. It co-incided with my brother (4yrs younger) returning to cycling and as we then both lived on the Worcestershire / Herefordshire border, a natural training partner/buddy. Christmas 2007 we discovered Epic Cycles its a fantastic bike shop, both in price and as nice folk. A few group rides and with some gentle persuasion the owners set up a Cycling shop based club.

I have ridden over 30 sportives 2008 to 2010 incl, I thoroughly enjoy the whole experience, riding in new areas, signed routes, food stops if required, vast abilities riding together, large numbers of like-minded individuals but most of all I have met some wonderful people, before, during and after the rides.

I have also ventured into Europe and rode La Marmote, Etape (Ventoux version) and Maratona dles Dolomites, they were brilliant experiences in different ways.

I also found that despite my age in numerical terms, in my head I still have competitive urges of some half my age, so in 2009 I competed in a few races, to my amazement gaining my 3rd Cat licence.

I have blogged a lot of my events on cyclosport.org but just thought it would be nice to have my own blog to document my adventures, certainly since my accident 1/9/10                                                                                                                                                            I hope the blog is of interest to anyone who reads it. Thanx all, here goes ……………………..
